The Adventures of TinTin

Finally got a chance to see the 2011 movie, The Adventures of Tintin.  Having never read the cartoon series this movie series is based on, I had no preconceptions about this movie.  I only hope was for an enjoyable entertainment of filmography.

Overall I would say the movie was entertaining.  I would rank it as solid entertainment but nothing blockbuster.  The movie follows the adventures of Tintin, a young reporter/sleuth.  The movie is reminiscent of a Young Indian Jones style adventure with a dash of slapstick humor.  In this adventure Tintin explores the mystery of the sailing ship, the Unicorn, after purchasing a model ship at market that is suddenly wanted by several odd characters.

A few details of the movie kept me from praising the film.  One of the main points was the use of a gun by Tintin.  Even Indiana Jones eschewed guns, so to find a young hero customarily waving a gun around, and in one seen actually firing the weapon at pursuers, seems oddly inappropriate.
The second point I found hindered the story was the two Constables, that's Detectives for American viewers.  The two Constables came across as more than bumbling, but well meaning fools.  Instead the two Constables came across as complete fools and a extraneous waste of space.
The ending of the film did come as a surprise but in hind-sight it makes since from a conceivable sequel front and works as a decent ending for the storyline.

This film was also featured in 3D, since I saw this film in standard format I cant comment on the 3D quality of the film.  As a movie experience I would suggest this as more a rent, unless this movie really appeals to you, or as a decent outing for a family with younger children 8-12.

Welcome

I love movies and television shows.  This blog will cover movie news of interest, movie critiques, and discussion of television shows.  The only thing this blog will not cover is horror(mostly).  Life is scary enough.
